Dudley Council the historic capital of the Black Country
Dudley Skyline

We are really looking forward to our big outdoor event on Sunday July 7th and hope that you come along, picnic in the park, enjoy an ice cream and support the groups. The event last year was an amazing success and we are delighted to be back again.

There is no need to buy tickets or programmes and the Friends of Dudley Performing Arts will be on hand to help and raise funds to help support the event. All performances will take place on the bandstand and performers are to report to the sign in tent (behind the bandstand) 30 minutes before they are due to play. Scroll down to view performance times.

There is also a chance for everyone to take part (regardless of age). See Big Sing and Big Play below for further details.

In the event that we have to make a significant change due to the weather we will communicate via  our facebook/twitter feeds.

Big Sing at 14:00 - your chance to take part

The Big Sing features over 100 children from our primary schools who will be singing 4 Motown songs. If you want to sing along from the audience, google then download the lyrics and learn to sing ‘Isn’t She Lovely, It Takes Two, Say a Little Prayer and Dancing in The Street'.  The Big Sing is at 2.00pm and we look forward to hearing your singing.

NB - Big Sing will not take place if the weather does not permit

Big Play at 17:20 - calling all instrumentalists

The Big Play will combine all the Upbeats, Concert and Youth Groups who will play Bizet: 'Habanera' and 'Toreador' from 'Carmen Suite No. 2, Tchaikovsky: Russian Dance and Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker, Purcell: Abdelazer – Rondeau. Parents/family and friends who play in a band or ensemble are invited to bring an instrument along and join in.  To do this, you will need to download the music from the BBC 10 Pieces website (a google search for BBC 10 Pieces should take you to the right place) and learn your part!  There are a range of parts from easy to more advanced and it would be great to have a ‘family’ section playing along. (you will need to print out the music and bring a music stand). We will assemble the Big Play orchestra from 5.00pm and should be great fun. Here are links to the pages to help you find your music - no need to register, just come along with your instrument and be ready to play.
