Let's get active outdoors

Let's get active outdoors is a programme full of free led and self-guided walks, fitness sessions, activities and health classes that take place in Dudley borough’s parks and green spaces.

The programme incorporates healthy walks and leisure activities that take place outside across the borough. It also features activities such as cycling and rowing sessions held at the Dudley Water Sports Centre.

What's on?

We offer a range of family friendly activities in our parks and nature reserves. The activities include seasonal sessions for Easter, Whitsun and summer holidays as well as nature trails, craft workshops and much more.

Health and progression walks

It's free, easy to do and one of the simplest ways of getting more active.

Open to everyone and free of charge, it’s a great way to be active, socialise and have fun. You can take things at your own pace, walk as part of a group or on your own at a time and place that suits you.  Many of our walks are possible due to the dedication and hard work of our volunteer walk leaders.

The programme includes weekly short walks, one-off longer walks, tours that take in local history and visitor attractions, rambles and ambles for parents and children as well as routes that are accessible for wheelchair users, pushchairs and buggies. The walks range from 30 minutes to 2 hours - please check the programme to ensure the walk is suitable for you before attending.

Find out more about Dudley's Let's Get Walking programme by visiting the walking for health website.

All our health walks are delivered in conjunction with Walking for Health - a national initiative that helps people access short, free and friendly health walks in their local area. Our progression walks are harder and are longer in duration, over 90 minutes.

Rowing in Dudley

We run a number of rowing activities for adults and children aged 11 and over including taster sessions and learn to row courses.

Cycling

We hold regular sessions on the first Saturday of every month including learn to ride, bikeability (level 1, 2 and 3) and organised rides. For more information contact the road safety and awareness team.
