Dudley Council’s 2010 Further Assessment of Air Quality report confirmed that concentrations of nitrogen dioxide were found to exceed the government's annual mean objective value of 40 µg/m3 at several locations:

- Brierley Hill
- Quarry Bank
- Hagley Road, Halesowen
- Wordsley
- Lye
- New Street, Dudley
- Himley Road, Lower Gornal
- Stourbridge Road, Halesowen
- Amblecote
- Birmingham Road near to Burnt Tree Island
- Buffery Road
The major source of pollution in these areas has been identified as road traffic.
Additionally, breaches of the hourly objective for nitrogen dioxide in Halesowen Road, Netherton are now under further investigation.
