Elections 2018

Borough Elections will be held on Thursday 3 May 2018.  

Register to vote

17th April is the deadline to register to vote in these elections, registering is easy simply visit www.gov.uk/registertovote

If you will be 18 on 3 May you can vote in these elections.


The list of candidates standing in the local election is now available  along with the Notice of Election Agents

Information and guidance about standing for local elections can be found on the Electoral Commission's website.

Polling Stations

There will 193 polling stations open across the Borough on 3rd May, the schedule of polling stations lists all 193.

Key dates

  • Poll cards will be delivered from Monday 26th March through to Friday 6th April 
  • Deadline for receipt of nomination papers - 4pm on Friday 6th April 
  • Deadline to register to vote - Tuesday 17th April
  • Deadline to apply for a postal vote - 5pm on Wednesday 18th April 
  • Deadline to appoint a proxy - 5pm on Wednesday 25th April
  • Postal vote packs will be issued to existing postal voters around 18th April, final packs will be issued around 24th April
