A new Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) was adopted by the Council on the 8th of February, 2017.
It replaces and supersedes the previous SCI which was adopted in 2006.
The SCI sets out how the Council will consult on planning applications, neighbourhood plans, planning and related applications and development orders, as well as who the Council will consult and for how long.
The SCI explains how the Council intends to engage with the community in a way which reflects the aims and objectives of the Council Plan, with particular regard to:-
- Using straightforward language to get the message across
- Enabling the community to have more involvement in shaping their neighbourhoods by promoting Neighbourhood Planning
- Engaging with, and getting views from, a wider cross section of the community
- Using new and a wide range of communication methods, for example, social media networks.
The SCI was subject to consultation - the consultation period ran for 8 weeks between Monday 3rd October 2016 and Monday 28th November 2016. The responses received during that consultation are set out in a Consultation Statement which can be viewed below and were used to help inform and shape the final document.
A full version of the adopted SCI is attached below, along with a summary version.
