Dudley Learning Support Service (LSS)

Who we are…
  • A team of highly experienced specialist teachers with additional Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) qualifications who work within the principles and guidelines of the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Code of Practice: 0-25 years (2015).

  • We are committed to working in partnership with schools, parents, governors and other professionals to raise the standards of achievement for pupils with SEN.

What we do…

We work in a variety of ways to ‘support schools in supporting pupils’ by offering services in the following areas:

  • Assessment of pupils

  • A professional, high quality service that is tailored to meet the needs of individual settings.

  • A yearly Service Level Agreement (SLA) purchase meeting.

  • A termly caseload planning meeting.

  • An allocated Specialist Teacher.

  • Up–to-date advice and support re: SEND topics

  • A team of highly experienced Specialist Teachers, who have or are studying for additional SEN and/or SpLD qualifications at Level 7, enabling the team to undertake GCSE Access Arrangements Testing in line with current JCQ regulations and the assessment and teaching of pupils with Dyslexia.

  • Many of the LSS Team have previous experience in the role of SENCo within Dudley Schools. Therefore they have excellent knowledge of SEND in the local context.

  • LSS have established links with outside agencies, resulting in co-ordinated support.

  • Continued Professional Development on a range of SEND topics and intervention programmes.

  • Termly SENCo Forum.
