Leisure centres update - 4 January 2021

Following the recent government announcement, Crystal, Dudley and Halesowen leisure centres, the Dell Stadium and Coseley Sports Centre are now closed until further notice. 

Please note all memberships are suspended whilst our facilities are closed. The next direct debit payment will be 1 April 2021 (this may be subject to change if the centres remain closed). Annual memberships will be extended to compensate for the closure.

Following government guidance and Swim England it has been necessary to implement the following rules and regulations.

Information and guidance

Dudley Leisure Centre's 25 metre pool is now open for lane swimming only. Unfortunately shower facilities are not currently available.

To visit the centre you must pre-book a session online or over the phone. You can book a maximum of one activity session per day. 

  • The changing rooms are now mixed changing rooms.
  • The swimming pools will operate as lane swimming only until further notice.
  • Lane swimming is for competent swimmers only.
  • The learner pool is currently closed.
  • Swimming is pre-bookable online for members or by phone for non-members.
  • Sessions are 60 minutes long with the pool closed for a 30-minute clean down between each session. Every day, the pool will close for a longer period in the day for a deep clean.
  • For rules on using the pool please see swimming etiquette below. 
  • Please arrive with your costume on underneath your clothes ready to swim.
  • Lockers are out of use. Please take your belongings onto the poolside in a bag.
  • Changing rooms may be limited and you are advised to shower at home. Showers are currently out of use.
  • Swimwear must be worn when showering.
  • All children 8 years and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult. One adult must accompany up to two children under the age of eight. All swimmers must be competent swimmers to use the pool.

School holiday learner pool opening times and guidance

School holiday opening times

Please see term time opening hours for the main pool. Sessions in the main pool are for lane swimming only and for competent swimmers.

During the school holidays (excluding Christmas) the centre will run family splash swimming sessions at 9am, 10.30am and 12pm every day. The sessions will take place in the learner pool only, where the pool will be split into two sections for two families to attend (per session). Social distancing measures will be in place.

To book a session please contact the centre on 01384 812800 (option 1). A payment of £12.75 per session will be required when booking.

Please note: Discounts are not available with this session and memberships are not applicable. The main pool timetable will remain unchanged.

Family splash swimming guidance

  • A family can consist of either: One adult and up to four children (two of the children must be aged eight years and above). Two adults and up to three children or three adults and up to two children.
  • An adult refers to a responsible person aged sixteen years of age and above.
  • Please arrive with your costume on underneath your clothes ready to swim.
  • The changing rooms are now mixed changing rooms.
  • Shower facilities are currently out of use.
  • Lockers are out of use. Please take your belongings onto the poolside in a bag.
  • All family members must be from the same household or support bubble.
  • Family splash swimming sessions can only be booked over the telephone.
  • Families must queue outside the centre before their session and must follow social distancing guidelines at all times.
  • Lifeguards are not permitted to give out any swimming aids.
  • Additional family splash swimming sessions may be considered after October half term depending on programming and government guidance.
  • No discounts are available in these sessions. All members must pay the full rate to access the family splash swimming sessions.

Swimming etiquette

1. There will be double lanes in place to allow for safe distancing.
2. No diving is allowed.
3. Only 10 swimmers allowed per lane. 
4. Choose the correct lane for your ability - fast or medium paced.
5. Wait to enter the water if another swimmer is close by
6. Swim in a clockwise direction.
7. Butterfly stroke will not be allowed.
8. Overtaking is permitted when safe to do so. Please ensure your way is clear and maintain social distancing while doing so. 
9. Be aware of other swimmers entering the pool.
10. Keep rests to a minimum and no talking at the end of lanes.
11. If you have to rest please do so in the corner of the lane, allowing other swimmers safe distance to pass.
12. Show courtesy and consideration for others.
13. Please follow guidance given by the lifeguard.
