The service provides for the statutory registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in the registration district of Dudley Metropolitan Borough. The Register Office is located at Priory Hall, Priory Park, Dudley. A registrar is also available, by appointment only, to register births and deaths at Stourbridge Registration Office and Dudley Council Plus.

By Road - Dudley is only 2 miles from J2 of the M5 and is clearly signposted by taking the A4123, A461 and then the A459 to Priory Hall. Dudley Bus Station is only 10 minutes walk away. It is approximately 125 miles from London, 10 miles from Birmingham, 108 miles from Cardiff and 80 miles from Manchester.

By Rail - There are direct services from London Euston and Birmingham International Airport and a regular rail link to Sandwell and Dudley Station.

Thomas Robinson Building has wheelchair access but due to the fact it is a grade 11 listed building the disabled facilities are limited.

By Road - Thomas Robinson Building is located in Cemetery Road, Lye, Stourbridge accessed directly from the A4036 Pedmore Road.

Registering a Baby's Birth 

A birth must be registered in the registration district where the baby was born. If your baby was born in Russells Hall Hospital, this can be at Dudley Council Plus, Dudley Register Office or Stourbridge Registration Office. Please call 0300 555 2345 to arrange an appointment.

You can choose to use our new tell us once service when registering the birth.

Re-registering a Baby's Birth

To re-register your child's birth following marriage or to add the naturals father's details to the birth please visit www.gov.uk/adding-fathers-name-birth-certificate where you can download an application form. 

Registering a Death

A death must be registered in the registration district in which it took place.

If the death occurred within the Dudley Borough, this can be at Dudley Council Plus, Dudley Register Office or Stourbridge Registration Office. Please call 0300 555 2345 to arrange an appointment.

Marriages and Civil Partnerships

Couples wishing to marry or register a civil partnership in the Dudley borough can choose to hold a ceremony at Priory Hall. Located in Priory Park, the venue offers fantastic photograph opportunities. We are now taking booking for the Wollescote Suite in our exciting new venue, the Thomas Robinson Building (formerly Lye and Wollescote Chapels).

Copy Certificates

The fastest way to obtain copy certificates is to apply and pay online.

If you prefer you can download certificate application forms and apply by post enclosing a cheque or postal order payable to Dudley MBC. 

Change of Name Deeds

A deed poll  service is available at Dudley Register Office for anyone wishing to change their name.

Births, Marriages & Deaths Search

Search for Birth, Marriage or Death records held in the Dudley Metropolitan Borough from 1837 up to 2006 inclusive.

Citizenship Ceremonies

A person can apply to the Home Office to become a British Citizen if they have resided in the UK for 5 years or if they have resided in the UK for 3 years and are married to a British Citizen.

Nationality Checking Service 

Dudley council provides a nationality checking service and a settlement checking service. A European Passport Return Service (EPRS) is now available Tuesdays and Fridays only at Priory Hall.

Priory Hall and Thomas Robinson Building open days

Don't miss our annual open day giving couples looking to tie the knot an opportunity to look around the hall and grounds. The event is attended by various wedding related service providers and all visitors can enter their names in a free draw to win a Priory Suite or Wollescote Suite wedding! Our next Thomas Robinson Building open day is on 8 October 2016 and the Priory Hall open day is 18th March 2017.
