Any young person who lives in the borough of Dudley or attends a school in the area can play at Symphony Hall regardless of age, ability or experience.

Update: The Open Mic is now full. We will take new registrations if any spaces become available.

An open mic session is an opportunity for people to perform music of their choice to an audience of friends and other performers. Open mic sessions are informal and relaxed, this session is open to any young musician who wants to get up and perform. It will take place on the Jennifer Blackwell Stage (in the foyer area) between our two concerts, with no charge or ticket requirements for this part of the day.

When we say that any young person can take part we really do mean anyone. You may be in a rock band, about to take a music exam, just started to play, enjoy singing on your own/with a friend, compose your own music or anything else.

After you have registered we will allocate you a time slot and speak to you about what you might need. For example, if you are just starting to play you may only need a few minutes and if you are coming as a band we may give you a little longer. You may need someone to accompany you on the piano or may need some equipment like amplifiers/drums. Don't worry about any of these things at this point, we will make all the arrangements.
