Trading Standards regulate trade using weights and measures.
Working with the National Measurement and Regulation Office, we control both the accuracy of the equipment (weighing or measuring equipment) used in transactions and the way in which the equipment is used.
This is checked by conducting regular inspections of premises and by investigating in response to consumer complaints.
Businesses looking to have equipment tested for compliance with weights and measures laws are able to use Trading Standards facilities (charges apply, see Fees and Charges). Dudley Trading Standards offers a limited number of equipment tests, please contact us for more details.
