Our main function is to administer applications for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and Discretionary Housing Payments.
Please see main headings below for more information.
Housing Benefit can help you pay your rent if you’re unemployed, on a low income or claiming benefits. Dudley borough is a full service Universal credit area. That means that most working age customers will need to make a claim for their housing costs through Universal credit. For more information go to Make an application.
The Council Tax Reduction (CTR) schemes reduce the amount of Council Tax that low income households have to pay to the council. This includes the Alternative Maximum Council Tax Reduction, which is awarded when a person has a second adult living in their home who has a low income. For more information go to Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) are extra payments to help pay your rent. These payments are given to people claiming benefit who need more help with their housing costs, if these are more than the amount of benefit received. For more information go to Discretionary Housing Payments.
Welfare benefits information and support is available to people who have had a social care assessment and those who receive support from other agencies. For more information go to Welfare Rights Service.
