Our home improvement service provides adaptations, essential repairs and energy advice to support vulnerable residents living in Dudley to keep warm, safe and independent in their homes.
If you have a disability, an adaptation can help you to move more safely and confidently around your home. We can adapt your home to help you manage steps and stairs and to use bathroom and kitchen facilities. For example we can provide subject to an assessment by an occupational therapist and in some cases a financial assessment, grab rails, bathing equipment, stair lifts, level access showers and ground floor facilities.
In all cases we can help source reputable and approved contractors for the work and if you are either a council tenant or eligible for funding through a Disabled Facilities Grant we can also oversee the works from start to finish.
If your home requires essential repairs that are affecting your health and safety then you may be eligible for a repair grant. For example if your heating is broken or your roof is leaking then subject to a financial assessment we may be able to replace the boiler or repair the roof.
Living in a cold home has a whole host of health implications for the elderly, the young and those with long term health conditions. If you belong to one of these vulnerable groups or are struggling to afford your gas and electricity bills then our Energy Advice and Winter Warmth service can support you to afford to keep warm in your home. The service runs all year and offers free home energy advice visits to provide advice and support with reducing home energy bills, help accessing energy discounts and grants, along with saving money by switching tariffs and energy saving tips.
Foundations - the national body for home improvement agencies(HIAs) has produced a short video which explains why Home improvement services (also known as home improvement agencies) are essential to keeping people independent and well, in their own homes. It illustrates really well the range of help that is on offer and how it can change people’s lives.
