Earlier bin collections - week commencing 22 June 2026

Due to the high temperatures, our bin crews will be starting collections earlier than usual to help keep them safe in the heat. Please make sure your bins are out the night before, as collections will take place from 5am for the rest of this week. Thank you for helping our crews to work safely during the hot weather.

From 6th April 2026, Dudley Council will be rolling out a new waste and recycling service, to include weekly food waste collections and simplified recycling, to improve recycling rates by making it easier for residents.

From 6 April 2026 Dudley Council will be rolling out a new waste and recycling service, in line with new government legislation, which means all councils must simplify and expand their household recycling processes and collections. This includes the introduction of mandatory food waste collections and easier recycling. The aim is to improve recycling rates, making household recycling simple, quick and easy for residents.

  • Food waste - residents will receive a small kitchen caddy with liners to use indoors (all food waste including peelings, scraps, leftover food, tea bags, coffee grounds, fruit stones and bones can be emptied into this). This will then be emptied into a larger outdoor food waste caddy (with a lockable lid) and this will be emptied weekly
  • Recycling - residents will receive a new blue wheeled bin for simple mixed recycling (cans, plastic, glass and cartons). We will continue to collect blue bags for paper and card recycling. These will be emptied fortnightly. The black box and green bag will no longer be needed, residents can keep these and repurpose them
  • Residents will continue to use their black wheeled bin for non-recyclable waste, this will be collected fortnightly as there will be less waste in it
  • Garden waste collections are unaffected and will remain a paid service with fortnightly collections

New receptacles will be delivered from Monday 5 January, comprising of the 240 litre blue wheelie bin, a 23-litre kerbside caddy and a 7-litre kitchen caddy. Deliveries will take several weeks to complete.

Please note that some properties may be exempt from the new receptacle deliveries in January. These may include some flats. We are working on the details of deliveries and will  be in touch with residents soon.
