In caring for the cemetery grounds we aim to achieve the following maintenance standards:
Description and Standard
- Lawn and traditional sections the grass will be cut every: 10 Working Days (Excluding the area artound the headstone)
- The area around the memorial on a lawn section or a traditional section will be strimmed: Four times per annum
- Ornamental areas the grass will be cut every: 7 days
- Large open spaces will be cut every: 10 Working Days
The area around the memorials on lawn/traditional sections will be treated with a weed killer either in the form of a spray or granules.
Grass cutting and strimming is only carried out during the growing seasons from the start of March to the end of October.
Leaf clearance will commence in November and be completed by the end of March. We will try to have them cleared for Christmas if at all possible.
All roads within the Cemetery will be swept as and when necessary by hand and 4 times a year by machine.
All flowerbeds will be planted twice yearly and maintained every 10 working days in Summer (start June to mid September) and 20 working days in the remainder of the year with the exception or preparation/planting times.

- Roses will be inspected for disease/aphid infestation and the standard rose for broken stakes: 10 Working Days
- Roses will be treated within (and thereafter as required): 10 Working Days
- Paths will be edged: Two Times per annum
- Rose bed will be hand weeded and edged every: 10 Working Days (between start Aril to mid September)
Roses will be fed with granular fertiliser before the growing season each year. Rose heads (dead) and suckers will be removed every 10 working days between the start of June and Mid September. The roses will be pruned in the Spring and the Autumn.
Each winter period November/February dead or poor rose specimens are replaced with new. Also during this period several of the rose beds are replenished, the bush roses are replaced and the beds have well rotted manure and new topsoil added to them.
Shrubs and trees will be pruned and cut back in accordance with their seasonal requirements.
These standards are subject to weather conditions permitting work.
