Gornal Wood Cemetery and Crematorium

Gornal Wood crematorium was opened in 1960 and is administered by Dudley Council. Set amongst delightful landscape grounds Seasonal Gardens of Remembrance, the Crematorium buildings are of a modern design but every effort is made to retain a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.

    Cemetery and Crematorium Grounds including crematorium buildings
    Summer (1st April - 31st October) Everyday including weekends and Bank Holidays 09:00 - 18:00
    Winter (1st November - 31st March) Everyday including weekends and Bank Holidays 09:00 - 16:30

    Please note at Gornal Wood Crematorium the buildings (including the Book of Remembrance rooms) are locked 30 minutes before the grounds close

    The Crematorium gates are closed 15 minutes earlier

Code of Practice

The Council is a member of the Federation of British Cremation Authorities and complies with the strict code of practice, which determines the necessary high standard of crematoria.

We are members of the Confederation of Burial Authorities. At present we are also working towards the “Charter for the bereaved.”

Family History & Genealogy Research Service

Bereavement Services now offer a Genealogy Research Service to locate a person that is buried within one of the boroughs cemeteries. The online facility provides both the burial location and grave number.

In addition further information on Researching your family history is available from the Dudley Archives and Local History web pages, and an online archive of historic mapping and aerial photography is available.
