The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or who have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly.
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.
We have received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (DERS) Silver Award in recognition of our commitment to supporting the Armed Forces Community.
By upholding the values of the Covenant, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for our Armed Forces personnel and their families.
We also encourage all organisations and businesses to support the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant
What is the Armed Forces Covenant?
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, are treated fairly. It represents a commitment to support the military community and ensure they are not disadvantaged in any way due to their service.
We have pledged our support to the Armed Forces Community and are working with strategic partners and local organisations to support current and former service personnel and their families in the local area.
We provide a range of advice and support on housing, leisure discounts, schools and learning, jobs and training, welfare and financial support and healthy living
More information about the Armed Forces Covenant can be found on the Armed Forces Covenant website
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund
The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust supports the Armed Forces Covenant by delivering funding programmes that create real change to Armed Forces communities across the UK. There are four broad funding themes:
- Non-core healthcare services for veterans
- Removing barriers to family life
- Extra support, both in and after service, for those who need help
- Measures to integrate military and civilian communities and allow the Armed Forces community to participate as citizens.
Grants are awarded through specific programmes which each have their own aim and guidance.
To view the current open programmes, see the Covenant fund website.
