Flags
With regard to the recent increase in the number of flags being flown across Dudley borough by private individuals, here is a statement from the Leader of Dudley Council.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of Dudley Council, said:
As a council we proudly fly both the Union Jack and St George’s flags, and residents are free to fly these at their homes or businesses. Indeed this council also proudly flies the Black Country flag at appropriate times.
However, for obvious reasons, we would ask people to refrain from hanging or painting flags where they may cause highway safety risks such as reduced visibility or distractions for motorists or pedestrians. I would prefer people not to risk injuring themselves or damaging street lighting columns but we will only take action to remove something if it poses a danger to pedestrians and road users.
We should all be proud of both flags and fly them more often.
