Earlier bin collections - week commencing 22 June 2026

Due to the high temperatures, our bin crews will be starting collections earlier than usual to help keep them safe in the heat. Please make sure your bins are out the night before, as collections will take place from 5am for the rest of this week. Thank you for helping our crews to work safely during the hot weather.

We can deal with complaints about accumulations of waste where there is a Public Health issue.

This is likely to occur where waste (such as domestic food waste) is present and which is likely to cause nuisance through odour or flies or could attract vermin.

If vermin do enter onto your own property please contact Pest Control.

If it is found that the accumulation is a threat to health or a severe nuisance exists then an abatement notice will be served on the person responsible. This could be the owner or occupier of the premises if the person responsible cannot be identified or found.

If the abatement notice is not complied with, the council can arrange for the work to be carried out. If this happens the person(s) responsible for the land would be then be charged for the cost of the work. They may also be prosecuted for their failure to comply with the legal notice. Failure to comply with the Abatement Notice is an offence. It carries a maximum fine of £5,000 if the property is domestic.
