Notice to commence preparation

Dudley Council gives notice of its intention to commence the preparation of the Dudley Borough Local Plan, in accordance with the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2026, Part 4, Regulation 19.

Purpose of this notice

This notice is to inform communities and other interested stakeholders that Dudley Council is intending to commence preparation of the new Dudley Borough Local Plan.

Publication date of this notice

This notice was published on 29 June 2026.

Intended date of commencement

Dudley Council will allow a minimum 4-month notification period before formally commencing preparation of the Dudley Borough Local Plan. It is anticipated formal commencement of the preparation of the new Local Plan will occur in: October 2026.

The timetable will be kept under review and updated where necessary during preparation of the new Dudley Borough Local Plan.

Scope of the document subject to this notice

The Dudley Borough Local Plan will establish a vision, measurable outcomes and a spatial strategy for the sustainable development of Dudley borough over the period to 2044. To support achievement of this spatial strategy the Dudley Borough Local Plan will include site allocations and local planning policy. The Dudley Borough Local Plan will also incorporate the entirety of the Mineral and Waste Plan for Dudley borough.

Lead organisation(s)

In fulfilling its statutory role as a Local Planning Authority and Mineral & Waste Planning Authority, Dudley Council is responsible for leading the preparation of the Dudley Borough Local Plan.

Geography

The new Dudley Borough Local Plan will cover Dudley Council’s administrative area – the Office for National Statistics (ONS) code for which is E08000027.
