Cycling time trials

Dudley borough will host part of the men’s and women’s cycling time trials on Thursday 4 August. This exciting event pits riders against each other in a race that they cycle alone against the clock, passing through Sedgley, Dudley and Gornal.

Each rider sets off at minute intervals, enabling them to focus only on achieving the fastest time possible without jostling other competitors for position.

The route will be made up of a 37.4km circuit for men, and a 28.8km circuit for women. Each rider is timed individually, with the fastest rider securing the all-important place on the top step of the podium.

It’s an event that always proves to be one of the most popular at the Games, transforming regular roads into an arena for elite sport and bringing the excitement of a major sporting event to people’s doorsteps.

Spectators are invited to line the route and watch the time trials, which are expected to start at 10am and finish at 4pm. Tickets are not required outside of the starting and finishing area at West Park in Wolverhampton.

The women's individual time trials are scheduled to begin at 10am in Wolverhampton, followed by the men's individual time trials which are scheduled to begin at 12.01pm. For more details, visit the Birmingham 2022 website.
