You will have received a Fixed Charge Notice because an authorised officer of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council had reason to believe that you have committed the offence of smoking in a smoke-free place.
Within the 29 day period you must either pay the penalty or request that the matter be heard by a court. You may not do both. If you fail to do either, Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council as an enforcement authority by virtue of section 10 of the Health Act 2006 may pursue this matter in court.
Payment of your Smoke Free Fine must be received within 29 days of the date of issue; if payment is received within 15 days of issue, the discounted charge shown on the document issued to you will be accepted as settlement.
If you choose to pay this penalty, no further action will be taken in respect of the alleged offence described at Part 1 of the penalty notice. The payment of the penalty involves no admission of guilt and will not result in a record of criminal conviction being made against you.
Payment may be made by one of the following options:
- Pay online
- By telephone via Dudley Council Plus - 0300 555 2345 (please ensure you have the Penalty Notice Number and your debit or credit card handy. Major Credit/Debit Cards only).
- By post (please do not send cash). Please make cheques and postal orders payable to ‘Dudley MBC.’ Write the Notice Number and your address on the reverse of your cheque or postal order. If you require a receipt for the payment of the penalty you must provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope. Send the payment together with the completed Part 3A of this Notice to us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
