Under the Gambling Act 2005 licensing authorities are required to prepare and publish a statement of the principles that it proposes to apply when exercising its functions under the Act. These aim to:-
The Statement of Principles. is reviewed every three years. The revised statement is updated to reflect changes in the statutory guidance.
Before a revised policy can be published the Licensing Authority must consult with certain other organisations such as West Midlands Police, gambling businesses and other organisations or people affected by gambling activities, however we would be happy to hear from anyone with an interest in this policy and its revisions.
The consultation period is open from 14th September 2018 until 19th October 2018. Any comments may be made in writing to the Licensing Office address below or by email to the Licensing Office . Please mark your correspondence ‘response to Gambling Policy Consultation’.
The draft statement of principles is available to download at the foot of this page and can also be inspected at the Licensing Office at the address below.
After the consultation period has closed all responses/comments will be considered by the Licensing & Safety Committee and then by full Council. The final draft policy will be considered by the full council in February 2019.
