Household Support Fund Survey

Sometimes we all need a helping hand when life's daily pressures get on top of us.

Maybe you are feeling anxious or low in mood. Do you feel more stressed than normal? Have you experienced any panic? Or do you have any phobias that are impacting on your life?

The NHS in Dudley offers a free, confidential, talking therapies service. This provides a range of psychological therapies to support people experiencing:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • panic
  • phobias

They will work with you to find the best treatment for your needs. This could include:

  • wellbeing workshops
  • computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • individual therapy
  • guided self-help
  • signposting to other support services

Help for managing suicidal thoughts

Anyone can have suicidal thoughts, if you're feeling like you want to die, it's important to tell someone. Help and support is available right now if you need it. You do not have to struggle with difficult feelings alone.

Support in crisis - 24/7 helpline

If you find yourself in a mental health crisis, it can be difficult to know what to do.

NHS 111 is here to help with the introduction of a mental health option for urgent mental health support. This will be option two.

The extension of the 111 service means if you are experiencing a mental health crisis you will be able to dial the NHS urgent medical advice number (111), and by choosing ‘mental health option’ will be put through to your local crisis service.

Specially trained mental health staff will speak to you, discuss your urgent needs, and assess the best way to support you depending on your symptoms. 

If you have physically harmed yourself, or if you feel your life is at risk, then A&E is the right place to go.

Face to face support is also available outside of usual mental health service hours. Each of the Black Country boroughs have a Sanctuary Hub.

Domestic Abuse and Suicide Prevention - Dudley Safe and Sound

Experiences of domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence are known to have long term adverse effects on psychological well-being. Depression, post-traumatic stress, anxiety and some of their impacts can be common outcomes of domestic abuse, these are all recognised risks for thoughts of suicide. Breathing space - debt respite scheme

If you live in England or Wales, you can get temporary protection from your creditors while you get debt advice and make a plan. This scheme is called ‘Breathing Space’.

Mental health and money advice

Mental Health & Money Advice is the first UK-wide online advice service designed to help you understand, manage and improve your financial and mental health.
 
They provide practical advice and support for people struggling with their mental health and money. Their website has lots of useful tips on how to manage your wellbeing.

It also includes a free Mental Health and Money Toolkit as well as the Money on Your Mind Podcast.

West Midlands Gambling Harms Clinic

The West Midlands Gambling Harms Clinic support people affected by problem gambling. They can provide therapies, treatment and recovery to those in need. They also offer tools, support and resources for those who may need them such as family and friends.

Just Straight Talk

Just Straight Talk (JST) is a Community Interest Company supporting people across The Black Country who are disadvantaged by providing the practical help, support, and motivation they need to address and overcome barriers, turn their lives around and achieve life goals.

JST has over 10 years’ experience of providing services within The Black Country for people including those long term unemployed, economically inactive and people struggling with the cost-of-living crisis and the complex systems in place.

JST does this by providing practical support, motivation to address and overcome barriers to help people turn their lives around and achieve their goals. We work with people aged 16+ with no upper age limit.

Nobody is turned away and they have projects to cater for a wide range of needs.
