The NHS Complaints Advocacy Service is a free and independent service that can help people to make a complaint about a National Health Service (NHS).

Most of us use the NHS at some point in our lives and many of us use them quite regularly.

The NHS work hard to make sure that people are satisfied with their services and receive good quality treatment but things can and do sometimes go wrong.

You may want to complain about a service you have received from the NHS, or you might want to complain on someone else’s behalf.

Our NHS Complaints Advocacy providers website will help you understand what your options are and how to get the best resolution for you.

You might decide that you need support to make a complaint.

Dudley MBC provides NHS advocacy through POhWER and they will work with you to ensure you understand your options and help you to achieve the outcome you are seeking.

NHS Complaints advocacy support provided through POhWER can assist to:

  • Support you to make a complaint about the service, care or treatment provided by the NHS, including complaints about your GP, dentist, local hospital, ambulance service or pharmacy,

  • Support you with a complaint about health and social care,

  • Support you to make an NHS complaint on someone else's behalf, including if someone has died,

  • Listen to your concerns,

  • Signpost you to the right organisation if we think that someone else can be of more help than we can,

  • Answer questions about the NHS complaints procedure and explain your options,

  • Provide a step by step guide to making an NHS complaint and offer some tips,

  • Provide you with a POhWER advocate, an experienced worker who can help you make your complaint and support you through the NHS complaints process,

  • Support you to write a complaint letter, attend a complaint meeting, request access to medical records and refer your complaint to the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) if the local service is unable to resolve your complaint.

You can ask for an advocate to assist you at any point in your complaint. If you would like an advocate to work with you, please contact POhWER using any of the methods shown below.
