Young people who are in care or who are leaving care are entitled to an advocate if you wish to have one to act on your behalf.
An advocate can:
- help you to speak up for yourself and voice your view
- support you with resolving an issue
- give you support and guidance
If you need someone independent to talk to, feel like you’re not getting the right support or you don't think your voice is being listened to then you have the right to ask for an independent advocate. They can help you to share how you're feeling, and allow you to communicate this to people who can help you make a change. - You will have the opportunity to sit on the Corporate Parenting Board representing Care Leavers
- You will have the opportunity to attend the National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum events
