Dudley Council has adopted the Dudley Borough Development Strategy (March 2017). As part of the preparation for the Development Strategy, a Borough-wide Historic Landscape Characterisation Study (HLC) was produced by the Council to provide an up-to-date evidence base which sets out where physical evidence of local historic character persists to enable developers to properly assess the impact of new development upon any affected heritage assets and their setting.
The Borough-wide HLC, in combination with the Historic Environment SPD (September 2017) and the other HLC studies for Brierley Hill, Dudley, Halesowen, Stourbridge and the Glass Quarter provide the evidence base to inform an understanding of the borough’s historic character.
