Dudley Council is responsible for the management of two Crematoria and seven Cemeteries through its Bereavement Services division. It is our aim to provide a quality and sensitive burial and cremation service with attractive grounds and well maintained facilities. The division has experienced, professional staff that are sympathetic to the needs of the bereaved.
The Crematoria are located at Stourbridge and Gornal Wood with both having adjoining cemeteries. The remaining cemeteries are situated at Dudley, Brierley Hill, Lye &Wollescote, Cradley and Halesowen.
In conjunction with providing a cremation and burial service, Bereavement Services also offer a choice of memorial schemes allowing people to commemorate their loved ones with a tangible memory.
The council is a member of the Federation of British Cremation Authorities and complies with a strict code of practice, which determines the necessary high standards required of Crematoria and Cemeteries. It is also a member of the Confederation of Burial Authorities and the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management. (ICCM).
At present, Bereavement Services is working towards the ICCM Charter for the Bereaved. This Charter seeks to raise standards by highlighting 35 rights that bereaved families should expect.
By striving towards achieving Charter status, the level of service we offer will be continuously improving and show our commitment to meeting the needs of the bereaved.
If you would like some specialised support in your present bereavement, we can advise you of organisations who provide advice, counselling and companionship to the bereaved and their families.
It is our intention to provide a caring service, which is sympathetic to your needs. For this reason we would welcome any comments that may assist in improving the service provided.
