Dudley Art Gallery opened in 1884, the fine art collection was started shortly after.

The collection includes works originally acquired by Stourbridge, Halesowen and Brierley Hill councils, prior to the reorganisation of local government boundaries in the 1960s and 1970s.  Some works within the collections have been donated by members of the public. 

The current art collection numbers almost two thousand works including 270 oil paintings, approximately 800 drawings and watercolours, 540 prints and 350 modern artists’ prints.

The collection highlights include Victorian oil paintings, 19th and 20th century British watercolours, and modern prints, depicting historical and topographical interest.
