We are currently working to produce a new Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP) for Dudley borough.
Improving air quality
Improving air quality in Dudley borough is important in order to meet national targets on reducing air pollution.
We have a legal responsibility as a council to monitor and report on air quality in our borough. In areas where national air quality objectives are not met, Air Quality Management Areas (AQMAs) are declared to improve air quality. There is currently one Air Quality Management Area declared for the whole of Dudley borough.
Air Quality Action Plan (AQAP)
To continue our work to improve air quality across the borough, we have produced a new Air Quality Action Plan.
This plan outlines the action we will take between 2024 and 2030 (or until the NO2 air quality objective is achieved throughout Dudley borough), including new infrastructure like the Dudley to Brierley Hill metro connection and encouraging the use of vehicles with lower emissions.
Air pollution cannot be dealt with by Dudley Council alone. Each person visiting, living, working, or studying in the borough can help to reduce harmful emissions and the risk of exposure to pollutants.
