Commercial Waste - Disposal Sites

Disposal of commercial waste is the responsibility of the business owner. You must deal responsively with any waste your business produces. Further information can be obtained from the following external web site.

Council Operated Disposal Site

Dudley Council operates a Household waste recycling centre for the use of Dudley Borough Residents to dispose of their household waste. This facility is situated off Birmingham Street (A458) at Stourbridge.

As of 1 October 2009, the Household Waste Recycling Centre no longer accepts trade or commercial waste.

Local Landfill Sites

Information on outlets for commercial/trade waste can be found in the yellow pages under the "Waste Disposal" heading. You will need to look for companies that operate a Waste Transfer Station.

There are also two major landfill sites in the area, however only vehicles equipped with independent, mechanical tipping facilities are able to utilise these sites under health and safety regulations. The sites are as follows:

Cory Environmental (North & West) Ltd
Himley Quarry Landfill
Oak Lane, Kingswinford, Dudley, West Midlands DY6 7JS
Tel: 01384 401016
Email: central@coryenvironmental.co.uk

Cleanaway Ltd
Sandy Lane, Wildmoor, Bromsgrove, B61 0QT
Tel: 0121 4535212

Recycling Locations

There are a number of organisations who can help local businesses to become more resource efficient, reducing the amount of waste produced and saving money. Dudley MBC does not offer a trade waste recycling service, however, there are local companies who can offer recycling services for items ranging from office waste to construction or agricultural waste.

Local Recycling Companies

The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) help people recycle more and waste less, both at home and at work, and offers economic as well as environmental benefits

They work with a wide range of partners, from major UK businesses, trade bodies and local authorities through to individuals looking for practical advice.

National Industrial Symbiosis Programme (NISP)

Industrial symbiosis brings together traditionally separate industries and organisations from all business sectors to improve industry resource efficiency and sustainability; involving the physical exchange of materials, energy, water and/or by-products.

NISP is a free business opportunity programme that delivers environmental, social and economic benefits and is the first industrial symbiosis initiative in the world to be launched on a national scale.

Landfill Site Register

The council provides access to its database of closed landfill sites. You can select an address and the current mapping for that location is displayed along with the boundary of any landfill site recorded. Then you can view the data sheet associated with any landfill site shown which provides summary information.
