Citizens Advice provides free, impartial, confidential and independent advice, guidance and information on the telephone and face to face
They can provide advice, information and guidance on 11 different enquiry areas including (but not limited to):
- Benefits.
- Debt.
- Housing.
- Employment.

Firstly look at the National Citizens Advice website.
This has lots of detailed information, advice and guidance which may be able to answer your query there and then.
Universal Credit benefit applications:
If you are applying for Universal Credit for the first time and need help with the application form, Citizens Advice have Help to Claim advisers which can help you with the early stages of your Universal Credit claim. You can talk to them on the phone or online by chat.
Their advisers can only help you with:
- Working out if you can get Universal Credit.
- Filling in the Universal Credit application.
- Preparation for your first Jobcentre appointment.
- Checking your first payment is correct.
You can contact an adviser through the Citizens Advice free Help to Claim phone service. Ask for a translator if you need to get advice in a different language.
Advisers are available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.

You can also chat with an adviser online about your Universal Credit application. Chat is usually available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. It's not available on bank holidays. If you can’t see a chat button, it means no advisers are available. Try again later or call the phone line.

Visit the Citizens Advice Dudley & Wolverhampton website and at the top of the page go to the "Get Advice" tab which will show you how best to get in contact dependent on your advice issue.
In addition, look at the "Services" tab to see if a specially funded contact can help you even more. You will see if you are eligible for any of these specific funded contacts when you click on any of them on the left hand side.
