During 2023/24 the council faced external scrutiny from the Local Government Association, CIPFA and external auditors.
This scrutiny has shaped the council's improvement journey going forward and has led to significant changes, and the development and implementation of the Dudley Council Improvement Plan.
Local Government Association's Peer Review 2023
During September 2023, a team of seven peers spent four days with us. They spoke to more than 150 people including a range of council officers, elected members and external partners in a series of meetings, discussion sessions and focus groups. Before the review, the council summarised its current situation including our key priorities, issues and challenges in a position statement.
The full report from the Local Government Association's Peer Review assessment is available below, along with the council action plan.
Progress review 2024
The Council took part in a Corporate Peer Review on 9 July 2024, delivered by the same experienced elected Member and officer peers that took part in the review in September 2023.
The team spent one day onsite during which they gathered information and views from more than 20 meetings and focus groups and spoke to more than 50 people, including a range of Council staff together with Members and the external auditors, in addition to further research and reading.
