Family centres will soon be part of the Family Hub Network and Start for Life programme.

Dudley family hub network

The Family Hub and Start for Life programme aims to provide families in Dudley borough with easy access to the support they need, at the right time in the right place. It will be accessible to all, provide better connections and build stronger relationships with families to help to ensure babies, children and young people in Dudley get the best start for life and meet their full potential.

Family centres will continue operating as normal but will soon be renamed as family hubs. During this time we will be working closely with families and partners to help us to make changes to how services are delivered.

Dudley Family Hub Network

Dudley is one of 75 local authority areas to benefit from government funding to develop a Family Hub and Start for Life programme. This investment will enable them to transform their services into a family hub model and improve support for new and expectant families.

In Dudley borough, our existing family centres will be incorporated into the family hub model.

What do the family centres currently offer?

The Family Centres are a service within Dudley that work together with a range of agencies and organisations to support families. Their aim is to provide families with access to the best Early Help support.

Dudley’s Family Centres provide a broad range of support services across the borough, with locations in Dudley North, Stourbridge, Dudley Central, Brierley Hill and Halesowen. The centres offer the following support for children and young people from birth to 18 years or to 25 years for those with learning difficulties or disabilities:

  • Parenting Groups
  • Baby Clinics
  • Citizens Advice
  • Pre Natal support
  • Signposting to Services and Groups
  • Family Support Work

The five family centres are made up of staff from a range of backgrounds and experiences and offer Early Help to families to prevent any difficulties progressing to statutory services.

Early help

Our Family Centres are part of the Early Help service within Dudley borough. Early Help is taking action early to provide support where problems are emerging for children, young people and their families. Early help support may be provided at any point in a child or young person’s life. Family Centres work alongside partners and families to provide support including Early Help Assessments and Family Support Plans.
