Controlling Bug Infestations Harmlessly

In the Home

Keeping a home clean with fresh, natural products is one of the easiest ways of controlling pests in the home.

Do not leave food or dirty dishes lying around. Clean food preparation areas thoroughly and be sure to clean under stoves, refrigerators and behind counters regularly. Hoover or dust ceilings and walls to keep spiders from nesting.

In the Garden

Wearing gloves when working in the garden or cleaning up outside will keep the risk of spider and ant bites down. Keep shrubs, grass and weeds cut low around a house. Hosing down areas under leaves will keep spiders from nesting in these areas while sweeping in corners of walls will do the same.

Many insects are attracted to moisture - make sure taps do not drip and any leaky pipes are repaired.

Treating Infestations

In order to successfully treat an infestation, the species needs to be correctly identified.
