Dudley Council consulted with tenants from Monday 14 October to Monday 11 November 2024 regarding the proposed introduction of service charges. The charges were introduced on Monday 13 January 2025.

Overview

Affected tenants of all types (introductory, secure and licence) received a direct letter through the post notifying them of the consultation. Along with the letter tenants received a set of Frequently Asked Questions, a notice of consultation and a preliminary notice, as well as a tenancy comparison table.

The service charge payment is separate to rent and covers a range of communal services such as grounds maintenance, lighting in hallways, and cleaning of communal areas and lifts. More information is available in our Frequently Asked Questions.

The service charges are individual to each tenant and a tenant will only pay for the services which are relevant to where they live.

Outcomes of the four-week consultation were reviewed and formal notification was issued to tenants on or around Monday 9 December. The charges were introduced on Monday 13 January 2025.
