Dudley Council started charging for some services on Monday 13 January 2025.

What are service charges?

Service charges are separate from your rent. They pay for shared services in and around your building, such as:

  • Looking after communal gardens
  • Lighting in shared hallways
  • Cleaning shared areas and lifts

Each tenant only pays for the services that apply to where they live.

Service charge support fund

If you are a council tenant and are struggling to pay your service charge, you can apply for financial help.

You will need to give us information about your income and spending so we can assess your application. We will make a decision within 10 working days, telling you:

  • how much support you will receive
  • how long the support will last

To request an application form, please call the Income Team on 0300 555 0010.
