Setting up

Setting up a direct debit to pay your council tax in monthly instalments is simple, call 0300 555 8000 (for quality and training purposes calls may be recorded and monitored) to sign up over the phone, or just complete and return a direct debit instruction. To obtain an instruction form:

  • There should be one at the bottom of your last bill.
  • Complete our online form to instruct your bank/building society to pay by direct debit

You will be notified of the amounts to be debited at least 14 days before the first payment date. If you have any queries about the direct debit scheme, please telephone 0300 555 8000 (for quality and training purposes calls may be recorded and monitored), email our Billing Section or visit the Direct Debit website.

Direct Debit guarantee

  • This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay Direct Debits.
  • If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit, Dudley M.B.C will notify you 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request Dudley M.B.C to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
  • If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by Dudley M.B.C or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society. If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when Dudley M.B.C asks you to.
  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.

Online with a debit/credit card

Customers can make online bill payments in a safe and secure environment. If you have a debit or credit card you can pay your bill via the Council's online payment system.

By phone with a debit/credit card

Just ring CallPay on 0300 555 7000 (for quality and training purposes calls may be recorded and monitored) when a payment is due. Please have your account number and debit or credit card ready when calling.

Paying by 12 Monthly Instalments

You now have the option to pay your council tax over 12 instalments rather than the usual 10.

The number of instalments you will get depends on when you register to extend your payments.

Or call 0300 555 8000 between 8:30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday (for quality and training purposes calls may be recorded and monitored).

Once requested, you will be given 12 monthly instalments for future financial years unless you tell us otherwise.
