Yellow Heat Health Alert

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a Yellow Heat Health Alert for all regions in England, from 9am on Monday 13 July until 9pm on Friday 17 July. Rising temperatures may increase health risks, particularly for vulnerable groups. There are always dangers with fires but there are things you can do to reduce the risks.

  • If you light up a barbeque or campfire, never use petrol or paraffin
  • Never leave a fire or barbeque unattended and put them out properly after you have finished using them
  • Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby for emergencies and avoid having barbecues in parks and public spaces
  • Reduce the risk of fires outside by putting out cigarettes and throwing rubbish away
  • Don't leave glass bottles lying on the ground - the sun's rays can be focused by the glass and can start a fire
