A Guide for Expectant Parents - Our First 1001 Days Together

From pregnancy until your baby’s second birthday, this can be your go-to source of information. It provides lots of practical advice, hints, and tips to help support you. It should be used together with the NHS Choices website.

Dudley Parenting Service

The Parenting Team organises and co-ordinates a range of parenting programmes, to offer support to families in the Dudley borough. The parenting programmes provide a wide range of services for families, to address a variety of needs. A family may access advice or information, online support or those who require more guidance may attend intensive group support.

Dudley Family Hub Network

Dudley's family hub network includes five local family hubs, along with online resources and community services which support children and families across the borough. The local family hubs are located at Brierley Hill, Coseley, Dudley, Lye and Stourbridge.

If They Could Tell You

Your baby’s brain is making a million new connections every second, making the first two years so important for their healthy development.

That means building strong connections during this period of your baby’s life lays the groundwork for their future well-being and mental health. Lovingly meeting your baby’s needs helps them to learn to manage their emotions and build their confidence and reduces the risk of future mental health issues.

Babies don’t come with a manual, but they do work hard to try to be understood. Knowing how to interpret their body language, facial expressions, noises, and cries can help you effectively meet their needs.

For the latest advice on how best to build your relationship with your baby, you can find support and free resources, including tips and learning materials, at Start for Life Hub.

DadPad

It’s the essential guide for new dads, developed with the NHS. As a new dad you will feel excited, but you may also feel left out, unsure or overwhelmed. The DadPad can help by giving you the knowledge and practical skills that you need. The resource will support you and your partner to give your baby the best possible start in life.
