The council has reported its strongest financial performance in recent years, ending 2025/26 with a planned £14 million underspend. Improved financial management, and stronger budget controls have successfully delivered £53.6 million in savings.

While some planned savings were deferred to protect vulnerable residents and maintain service stability, these are expected to be delivered through updated plans in 2026/27. The results demonstrate significant progress in the council's improvement journey while maintaining investment in frontline services, which is all about;

  • helping people live independently
  • giving children the best start in life
  • protecting the services people rely on
  • investing in a stronger future for Dudley borough

As a council we are now building strong foundations so we can continue supporting communities in the years ahead and delivering for Dudley.
