Code of Practice

The Council is a member of the Federation of British Cremation Authorities and complies with the strict code of practice, which determines the necessary high standard of crematoria.

We are members of the Confederation of Burial Authorities. At present we are also working towards the “Charter for the bereaved.”

Memorials

At Gornal Wood we offer a variety of memorials to commemorate your loved ones. Whilst we have attempted to provide quite detailed information on this website, please do not hesitate to contact the crematorium office if you require further guidance or advice.

Family History & Genealogy Research Service

Bereavement Services now offer a Genealogy Research Service to locate a person that is buried within one of the boroughs cemeteries. The online facility provides both the burial location and grave number.

In addition further information on Researching your family history is available from the Dudley Archives and Local History web pages, and an online archive of historic mapping and aerial photography is available.

Remembrance Services

There are two services of remembrance held in the Crematorium Chapel one at Christmas and one during the summer.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Notices are placed in the local press near to the date, as well as on this website – alternatively you may enquire at the office.

The services take approximately 45 minutes and after the ceremony all of the buildings are open for inspection. Members of staff are on hand to explain the various aspects of cremation and to answer any questions you may have.
