The Street Cleansing Service will respond quickly to requests for the removal and disposal of dead animals found on the highway or open land. Appointments are necessary if collection is from private premises or an owners property. For collection from the highway or public land no appointments are required.
All dead animals are taken to the Prestwood Pet Crematorium located just outside Stourbridge. The crematorium is set tranquil surroundings and seeks to meet individual family requests.
If your pet is missing and you would like to check the details of the dead animals that have been found, please contact either the Prestwood Pet Crematorium or the council using the contact details below. You will need to give a description of your pet to enable records to be checked.

Injured dogs: You can report injured dogs to the Council and our dog wardens will collect the animal.
Other injured animals: For other injured animals, please contact the Royal Society for the Protection of Animals (RSPCA), who can be contacted on 0121 426 6777.
The Council does not generally offer a removal service to the general Public and a local vet should be contacted for advice. In exceptional circumstances the Council may consider removing a carcass, in which case a charge will be made for the disposal of customer's own animals.
The service is free for "unknown" cats/dogs, which have been found on customer's property. Please note that Street cleansing will not collect any previously buried animals which have been "dug up".
Dead rats on private property must be reported to Pest Control.
Street Cleansing will collect dead rats from other locations. Please report dead rats that are not on your property.
The service to collect dead horses is a private pay on collection service operated by Bob Walker on 01922 496034 or 07702 117742.
Larger animals such as very large dogs, cannot be collected by Street Cleansing. Customer must contact local Vet for the disposal of these animals.
Wild animals will be collected free of charge.
