European Parliamentary Elections for the West Midlands 2019

On 29 October, Parliament voted under the Fixed Term Parliaments Act 2011 that a UK Parliamentary General Election would be held on Thursday 12 December 2019.

Following the extension to Article 50 granted on 10 April, the UK is making preparations in case it has to participate in the European Elections.

If these elections take place, they will be held on Thursday 23 May 2019, with the count taking place on Sunday 26 May.

Poll Cards will be delivered showing your polling stations around 25 April. Please be aware that due to the short notice nature of this election, some of the normal venues used for polling are not available, and alternatives have had to be found. Please check your poll card carefully.

If you are an EU citizen* on the electoral register in Dudley and you wish to vote in the UK in these elections, you must complete and return a form that confirms your preference to vote here in the UK and not in your home country. We will be sending these forms out by email and through the post in the coming days. Please complete and return your form by Tuesday 7 May, otherwise you will not be able to vote in the UK in these elections.

* This does not apply to citizens of Britain, Ireland, Cyprus or Malta, who do not need to make such a declaration.

The 2018 Review of Parliamentary constituencies

The Boundary Commission for England is currently conducting a review of Parliamentary constituencies

The review will take place over approximately two and a half years, with final recommendations submitted to Parliament in September 2018.

The initial proposals for new boundaries were published on 13 September 2016, which began twelve weeks of public consultation, including holding public hearings in each region of England. All feedback from the initial consultation will then be published in early 2017, followed by a four week consultation period during which the public are invited to comment on that feedback.

The Commission will then review all comments from the initial and secondary consultation to revise the proposed boundaries. In late 2017/early 2018 there will be a third period of consultation lasting eight weeks, where the public will be invited to comment on the revised proposals.

After looking at whether any more changes need to be made, in September 2018 the Commission will make final recommendations in a report published and presented to the Parliament.

Initial Proposals

The Boundary Commission published the initial proposals for new Parliamentary Boundaries on 13th September 2016.

A copy of the proposals for Dudley Metropolitan Borough have been placed on display at:

The proposals and arrangements for submitting comments can also be viewed on the Boundary Commission for England website.
