If you want to know more about a decision or determination of benefit, or if you think it is wrong, you should contact us within one month of the date of receiving notification if in respect of Housing and Council Tax Benefit.
If your dispute is in respect of the Council Tax Reduction scheme (help towards Council Tax payments after April 2013) please contact us as soon as possible.
You can either:
If the decision can be changed we will send you a new decision. If we cannot change the decision we will tell you why. If you still disagree or you have not heard from us within 2 months you have the right to appeal to an independent body, the Valuation Tribunal Service (you will need to fill in their appeal form). Do not use the Appeal form below as this is for Housing and Council Tax Benefit appeals only.
You can either:
Ask for an explanation, or
Ask us to look again at the decision (please complete Dispute Form), or
Appeal against the decision - this can only be in writing (please complete Appeal Form). If you appeal against the decision your appeal will be heard by an independent tribunal administered by the Tribunals Service.
