You have to register the birth of your baby within 42 days, in the registration district where your baby was born.
Babies born at Russells Hall Hospital and elsewhere within the Dudley Borough can be registered at either Dudley Register Office, Dudley Council Plus or Stourbridge Registration Office.
Birth registration during Coronavirus
All birth registration appointments were deferred due to the pandemic. You can now make an appointment to register your baby. If your baby is more than 42 days old and you have been unable to register due to Covid-19 please just make an appointment to attend as soon as you can.
Appointments will take place outside, through a window 'kiosk' style. No-one will be allowed entry into the building (no toilet facilities will be available). It is advised to attend appointments by car and to wear weatherproof/suitable clothing for the weather. Registrars will call people by telephone to go to the 'kiosk' window by phone when it is safe to do so. Please bring a black pen to your appointment to use to sign the register page and observe social distancing rules at all times.
We cannot accept cash payments, all birth certificates must be paid for by card. You can do this contactless at your appointment. If you do not pay by card at your appointment no certificates will be issued. You will be able to apply online for certificates afterwards at www.dudley.gov.uk/certificates.
If you or a member of your household have any Covid-19 symptoms, or you are isolating, please do not attend an appointment until you are symptom free.
Book an appointment online
To prevent unnecessary waiting for you, we use an appointment system. It is unlikely that we will be able to see you if you come without an appointment.
