We know that close relatives and friends derive comfort when they are allowed to commemorate their loved ones with a tangible memorial. Some people feel that a particular type of memorial would be appropriate and we therefore offer a choice of memorials. Whilst we have attempted to provide quite detailed information on this website, please do not hesitate to contact Stourbridge Cemetery and Crematorium if you require further guidance or advice on any of the commemorative schemes.

The beautiful volumes of the Book of Remembrance are made and inscribed by craftsmen and provide a permanent record. The books are displayed in the Remembrance room, which is situated at the side of the chapel, and near to the floral tribute area. It contains a page for each day of the year and the inscription usually appears on the date of death, or any other anniversary. The page is turned each morning in order that relatives may view the entry on that date each year.
The minimum entry if two lines consisting of a name of the deceased on the top line. With a personal inscription on the second. Five and eight line entries are also available. All entries are inscribed by hand, offering the same degree of permanence and artistic excellence.
Arrangements can be made for copies of entries in the Book of Remembrance to be available to relatives and friends upon request. These cards are particularly suitable to relatives who are unable to attend the Crematorium to view the book.
The Remembrance cards are in the same style as the Book of Remembrance and contain beneath the anniversary date a copy of the original inscription as it appears in the book.
The provision of a seat as a memorial provides a tribute to a loved one which is also a benefit to the community in which they lived. Such a memorial will last for the 'life' of the seat. The location* and fixing of the seat are subject to the agreement of the Council and any future relocation, due to redevelopment needs, will be agreed with the applicant at that time.
Memorial seats are subject to availability. The high quality hardwood seat is supplied with a bronze plaque and the right to affix a memorial for a 10-year lease period.
Planting a new tree, or installing a bench or plaque helps people to come to terms with their loss and creates a special place for friends and family to visit and to remember and reflect.
The memorial trees are pre planted within the grounds of the Crematorium and Cemetery. A plaque is supplied with the memorial tree, a maximum of three dedicated plaques per tree is allowed. The right to place a plaque besides a memorial tree is for a lease period of 10 years. We accept responsibility for the tree’s care and attention including free replacement if necessary.
