There are specialist services in the borough that provide support to people with learning disabilities and/or autism and other additional needs who are looking for work.
A Shared Lives foster carer shares their home and family with an adult with learning disabilities, or with other care or support needs, to help them to live well. There are lots of care options to suit individual needs.
Many people are choosing Shared Lives over other forms of care as it provides personalised, quality care allowing individuals to live ordinary lives as part of a family.
Every year the Department of Health asks every local authority about the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities and requires them to complete a self-assessment. As such it is essential that we understand the views of people with learning disabilities and their families/carers.
