People with Learning Disabilities

We provide information and support for individuals with learning disabilities and their families.

People with Autism

Access to employment

There are specialist services in the borough that provide support to people with learning disabilities and/or autism and other additional needs who are looking for work.

Access to employment.

Shared Lives care scheme

A Shared Lives foster carer shares their home and family with an adult with learning disabilities, or with other care or support needs, to help them to live well.  There are lots of care options to suit individual needs.
Many people are choosing Shared Lives over other forms of care as it provides personalised, quality care allowing individuals to live ordinary lives as part of a family.

Big health and well-being check up

Every year the Department of Health asks every local authority about the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities and requires them to complete a self-assessment.  As such it is essential that we understand the views of people with learning disabilities and their families/carers.

If you care for someone with a learning disability, we would like to hear your views to ensure we continue to deliver the best service for you:

Learning Disability Network (LDN)

The Dudley MBC keeps a confidential register of people with learning disabilities who live in the borough. It is a voluntary database, jointly funded by Health and Social care.  The Learning Disability Network helps the Council and other agencies to plan services that will benefit health and well-being.

Registration is voluntary and you do not need to be registered to receive a service.
