The forum gives parents of disabled children the opportunity to have their voices heard by getting involved in assessing short breaks small bids. These small bids are submitted by local projects and organisations and are discussed during forum meetings.
Members of the forum are asked to give their honest and valued opinions on the bids submitted. They talk about whether they fit the short break criteria and offer value for money. Most importantly they decide whether the bid, if approved, would provide a worthwhile and valuable short break for parents and carers and an enjoyable experience for disabled children and young people.
Meetings are held on Thursday afternoons once a month, 12-2pm at Insight for Carers, Pearson Street, Brierley Hill. They are informal, enjoyable meetings with an opportunity to meet and support other parents and gain an understanding of the small bids process.
Parent carers have the opportunity to make a difference by influencing what short breaks are on offer in the borough particularly in school holidays. If you would like to get involved with this independently-led forum please contact Emma Williams on 07904 616195 or email email@example.com
