Home Contents Insurance

We suggest all our tenants and leaseholders consider taking out Home Contents Insurance; the council provides building insurance for your council property, but it is your responsibility to insure the contents of your home.  It is always a good idea to shop around for a policy that will give you the cover you need.

We have teamed up with Thistle Tenant Risks, to offer a Home Contents Insurance Scheme, designed specifically for residents in social housing, all our tenants and leaseholders are eligible to apply. The scheme is designed to meet the demands and needs of social housing residents looking to purchase home contents insurance to cover their contents against events such as fire, theft, water damage.

This policy can cover contents such as: furniture, carpets, curtains, clothes, bedding, electrical items, pictures and ornaments.

We have made it easier for you to insure your belongings under a special home contents insurance scheme arranged by the council with Thistle Insurance Services Limited*.

*The council cannot guarantee that its scheme provides the cheapest cover available nor that it provides the widest cover. You are recommended to seek alternative quotations and choose the cover which best suits your needs.

• You can pay weekly alongside your rent
