We are currently diverting all our resources into dealing with the affected trees in the Norton / Stourbridge area following wildfires. We have the power to protect trees and to control the work which is undertaken to trees that make an important contribution to the local area.
Please be aware that under the Environment Act 2021, all planning permissions granted in England (with a few exemptions, e.g., smaller sites, householder development) will have to deliver at least 10% biodiversity net gain (BNG), for majors, from 12 February 2024 and small sites from 2 April 2024. BNG will be measured using Defra's biodiversity metric and all off-site and significant on-site habitats will need to be secured for at least 30 years. The Government has introduced a new charge called the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) to replace Planning Obligations / S106 Agreements in part.
